Hello!
My name is Sam Armstrong-Champ. I am 18 years old. I am an artist, musician, writer, and outdoor enthusiast living in Ashby, MA.
Homeschooled my whole life, I have been taking college courses at a nearby community college for the past year, including English, Psychology, and art courses such as Drawing, Two-Dimensional Design, and Printmaking.
I enjoy hiking, biking, reading, and doing anything that involves making art or music. I play a variety of instruments, including guitar and banjo. Music, art, writing, and outdoor exploration are my biggest passions in life. For the past 6 years, I have also been a serious student of Taekwondo.
In between college course and making time to enjoy life, I have held down two part-time jobs which help pay for my car, and all those trips to the local coffeehouse for Open Mic Night. More recently, I've been working and fundraising to help pay for a new adventure.
Life has been good to me!
For the past 3 summers, I have volunteered as part of a Teen Spike Crew clearing trails for Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC). I spent the first two summers in the 100-Mile Wilderness in Maine, and this past summer in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Each experience has helped me to stay connected with nature. I've learned a lot about myself, and met some great people in the process. I love working with small groups of people as part of a team effort that helps to make the world a better place.
For the spring semester of 2015 - in what could be called my 'gap year' - I have decided to do something even a little more off the beaten path before I move on with my life.
